About Fipronil 4% + Acetamiprid 4% SC

Fipronil 4% + Acetamiprid 4% SC is a powerful combination insecticide used primarily for controlling a wide range of sucking pests in agriculture. It is a Suspension Concentrate (SC), meaning it is a liquid formulation where the active ingredients are suspended in water, making it easy to mix and apply.

This combination is highly valued because it merges two different "modes of action," which helps in managing pests that have built up resistance to other chemicals.

Key Features & Benefits

  • Dual Mode of Action: It combines a Phenylpyrazole (Fipronil) and a Neonicotinoid (Acetamiprid) to attack the pest's nervous system from two different angles.

  • Systemic & Contact Action: It works on contact, when ingested by the pest, and systemically (it is absorbed by the plant, protecting new growth).

  • Translaminar Effect: The chemical can move from the upper surface of a leaf to the lower surface, killing pests (like whiteflies) hiding underneath.

  • All-Stage Control: It is effective against eggs, nymphs (young ones), and adult insects.

Common Target Pests & Crops

While it is most famously used in Cotton, it is also applied to various vegetables and fruit crops.

Crop Target Pests
Cotton Aphids, Jassids, Whiteflies, Thrips
Vegetables Thrips, Whiteflies, Leafminers
Chilli Thrips, Aphids
Soybean Sucking pests and certain soil-dwelling insects

Recommended Dosage

  • Foliar Spray: Generally 1.5 to 2 ml per liter of water.

  • Per Acre: Typically 400 ml diluted in 200 liters of water for a standard field.

  • Waiting Period: Often has a "Pre-Harvest Interval" (PHI) of about 30 days for cotton, meaning you should not harvest within 30 days of the last spray.

Safety and Precautions

CAUTION]

This is a toxic chemical (often marked with a Yellow Triangle on the label).

  • Protective Gear: Always wear gloves, masks, and long sleeves during application.

  • Weather: Avoid spraying during high winds or in the middle of a hot day to prevent "drift" and plant stress.

  • Storage: Keep in a cool, dry place, strictly away from children and food items.
