Emamectin Benzoate 5% SG is a modern, semi-synthetic insecticide belonging to the Avermectin group. It is a highly potent "green" pesticide derived from the natural fermentation of the bacterium Streptomyces avermitilis. It is primarily used to control Lepidopteran pests (caterpillars, moths, and borers) in various agricultural crops.

Key Features & Mode of Action

• Formulation (SG): It comes as Soluble Granules, which dissolve easily in water for foliar spraying.

• Dual Action: It works through both Contact (touching the pest) and Stomach action (the pest must eat the treated leaf).

• Translaminar Movement: This is a crucial feature. When sprayed, the chemical penetrates the leaf surface and forms a "reservoir" inside the leaf. This allows it to kill pests hiding on the underside of leaves or deep within the tissue.

• Paralysis: It disrupts the nervous system of the insect by activating chloride channels. Once ingested, the larvae stop feeding almost immediately and die within 24 days.
