Pymetrozine 50% WG (Water Dispersible Granules) is a highly selective systemic insecticide primarily used to control sap-sucking pests.¹ It is well-regarded for its unique mode of action, making it a critical tool for managing insecticide resistance.

How It Works (Mode of Action)

Unlike many insecticides that act as direct nerve poisons, Pymetrozine is a chordotonal organ TRPV channel modulator (IRAC Group 9B).

• Instant Fasting: Within 12 hours of exposure, the insects feeding mechanism is permanently paralyzed.

• Starvation: Although the insect may stay alive on the leaf for a few days, it cannot feed and eventually dies of starvation.

• Egg Prevention: It also reduces the egg-laying capacity of adult pests, helping to break the reproductive cycle.

Targeted Crops and Pests

It is most effective against "Homopteran" insectsspecifically those that pierce and suck plant sap.

Recommended Dosage

• Rice (BPH): 120150 grams per acre (usually mixed in 200 liters of water).
