Quizalofop Ethyl 5% EC About

Quizalofop ethyl 5% EC is a selective, post-emergence herbicide used to control grassy weeds in broadleaf crops like soybean, cotton, and groundnut. It works by inhibiting an enzyme called Acetyl-CoA carboxylase (ACCase), which disrupts lipid synthesis, killing the weeds without affecting the broadleaf crop. This formulation is systemic, meaning it is absorbed through the leaves and translocated throughout the plant for effective control.

Key features

Type: Selective, systemic, post-emergence herbicide.
Target weeds: Narrow-leaf (grassy) weeds.
Target crops: Broadleaf crops such as soybean, cotton, groundnut, black gram, onion, and many others.
Mode of action: Inhibits the Acetyl-CoA carboxylase (ACCase) enzyme, which is crucial for lipid synthesis and cell membrane formation in grasses.

Application: Applied after the weeds have emerged and are actively growing.

Rainfastness: Becomes rainfast within 1 to 3 hours of application, depending on the product.

Benefits: Effective control of grassy weeds, prevents regrowth, and enhances crop health and yield by minimizing weed competition.

Usage and safety

It is important to follow the recommended dosage for the specific weeds (annual vs. perennial) and crops being treated.
Do not use it on crops other than those recommended on the label, such as cereals like wheat, as it will damage them.
When using, ensure the weeds are young and actively growing for the best results.
It is safe for pollinators but avoid spraying during active foraging periods.
A jar test is recommended before tank-mixing with other products like insecticides.
